It’s beautiful outside, and the air is warming…
And being in Mississippi, I actually thought about turning on the Air Conditioner last night for the first time of the year. However, we got by with just running the ceiling fans and opening a window or two.
I believe we’ve finally turned the corner and no longer expect to have any cold nights. That means a few things. My gas bill goes way down, and my electric bill goes way up. Along with that. It means I have to start yard work.
So tonight, for the first time this year, I mowed my grass. It wasn’t unbelievably tall, but it was getting unsightly. I’m having a real weed problem this year. It’s basically covered my entire lawn. I’m not really an expert so I don’t know what it takes to get rid of it. So I hope just keeping my weeds short will be sufficient. I know my neighbor is probably mad.
Hopefully it will be over soon. It’s long, it’s hot. It’s really bumming me out. We’ve had a pretty crappy couple of months here at the Oxford Chapter of the Boothe family. It’s not just due to the heat, but that definitely adds to it. I won’t go into any of it here, because it’s depressing and not really something I would post in a public forum anyway.
I know there was a four day stretch where the air conditioner did not shut off at all. Maybe a time or two at night, but other than that, it was going full speed all the time. I am not looking forward to that August Bill.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to dad coming home in a couple of weeks. I know the girls are too. Because they have told me in so many words. It’s one of the things I enjoy most about coming home and seeing them shout my name and run over to give me a hug. It almost makes it worth going to work just to get to come home to that.
I’ve found out that I’m going to have to miss another HOME football game this year. I had already given up that I wouldn’t go to the LSU game just so that I could go to Boardgamegeek.con in Dallas (They really have to got to learn to start scheduling around the SEC Schedules). Anyway. I was cool with that. I hate missing any conference game. Especially when it’s against the Arch Rival.
But now I have learned that I will definitely miss the Alabama game as well. I have to go to a conference in Orlando, FL that week/weekend for work. I had considered coming in on a red-eye on Friday Night and skipping the last day of the conference, but it really is fairly important stuff that they are covering on the last day (for our ERP software) so I felt I really needed to be there.
Oh well. I have a funny feeling that I won’t really miss a bunch this season. But who knows, maybe they can make it up to me by letting me go to Atlanta.
I need to get Val to post with a team outlook this year. I have some preseason stuff for GARC that I will be posting on the Garc website sometime in the next day or two. It was kind of interesting to read.
Alright. Later all. I promise it won’t be quite so long before I make another post.
Public Smoking Ban passed in Oxford.
Oxford became the third Mississippi city to ban smoking in indoor public places Tuesday when the Board of Aldermen unanimously passed the proposed smoking ban ordinance at City Hall.
The smoking ban will go into effect 30 days from now, which is Nov. 16. From that point on, non-smokers will no longer be subject to the toxic chemicals in second-hand smoke inside Oxford’s restaurants, bars, and other businesses. Once the ordinance goes into effect, be sure to visit the restaurants and other places you normally would not have gone in because of exposure to smoke to show your support.
Oxford will soon be a better and healthier place to live.
Well, I’m on the road again as Chris stated earlier. However, it is Port Clinton, Ohio. Get it right! Yes, this is my yearly trip to summer camp where I drag my mother and little girls along with me. It’s a lot of fun though. Little bit of vacation for my mom anyway. It gets her out of Tennessee.
The girls have had a big time the last couple of weeks in TN with my mom, sister, and cousins. They stayed with them while I went recruiting up in Bowling Green, KY for a few days. Some good prospects for the future there. Went over to the Corvette Museum. Lots of beauties to drool over. I left the girls in TN while I went back to Mississippi to get some office work done. Then headed back to TN to get the girls and Mom to go to Ohio. If this sounds exhausting, that’s because it was, but this is what summer is like most of the time. And Chris thinks I don’t work.
Anyway, got to finish packing the car for Ohio. We are leaving in the morning. I’ll be without internet for about a week and a half; so, I’ll have to catch up on everything when I get back. Hope everyone is well. Here is a few pictures of the girls having a good time playing at my sister’s house.
Love to all,
Val
